The actual on-site staff of Fortress Storage are great. But their new corporate answering service is not so much. I haven't had any issues at this storage place, and I have been rentinga unit for about 5 years. Their pricing is reasonable, and the units stay dry. When they went to the new system, they said the units need insurance, and if we didn't provide it, they would add it to the bill. I provide my insurance to the office staff. I have auto pay, and the next month, they took out the extra insurance charge even though I had provided proof of insurance. I called the number on Google and got their answering service. I enquired why my bill had an additional amount. They said that the rates have gone up. I requested to speak with management 8because I didn't get a notice of a rate increase. Once I finally got to speak with the on-site staff, they said that the system didn't note I had insurance, and that was what they added to my bill. They corrected the insurance in the system, and I agreed they could credit me for the overcharge on the next month's bill. It took an additional month to receive the credit, but the onsite staff followed through and corrected it. I would give them 5 stars, but the answering service knocks it down a star. The onsite staff are great if you can do everything in person, and avoid the call service even better.
Rented a unit here because I just needed something small and it was affordable at $59/month, now under new management and they have raised my bill $20 with no changes or improvements to make it worth it. There’s literally rats that go through the units and leave droppings everywhere and I’m getting charged extra for what? Moving my things out by the end of the month and cancelling, I can get an indoor unit without rats with the same rate this place is trying to charge.
Since this storage facility went corporate it has lost the personal touch it had when the couple who ran it were on site. The gal I talked to at the Nampa facility was very nice but once I rented the unit it has been nothing but your typical corporate emails, calls answered by AI and no more personal service. Sadly it appears most companies are going to this model and I am not a fan.
My husband and I just rented a 10x15 unit. It was VERY clean and the office staff always had a smile on their face and were amazing to work with.
Under new management. Very corporate. Not personable. $20 late fees. Quick to lock you out. Would not recommend.
