I’ve been seeing the StorageMart location on Madison Street in Chicago for several months now, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the experience. I am owner of a moving company myself, so from the moment we walked in, the staff - Violet was friendly, professional, and really took the time to explain the storage options available. They made the whole process quick and easy. The facility itself is super clean, well-lit, and feels very secure — which was a big deal for me. I noticed cameras throughout the property, and I’ve never had any issues with access or safety. The location is convenient and easy to get to with plenty of parking. Whether you’re storing business supplies, personal items, or moving in/out of the city, this is a great spot. Highly recommend this StorageMart for anyone looking for dependable storage on the West Side

I’m leaving 1 star solely because of pricing and the lack of willingness to negotiate a better rate for loyalty — not because of the staff or the facility in general. If you want the nicest and most friendliest staff for a storage facility, this is the place for you. If you want reasonable pricing longer term, after your initial promo or move-in deal, don't consider this place and search for options other than a month to month, a (not so corporate/big chain) storage facility or even a storage facility that is willing to negotiate rent increases or storage facility that will let you prepay up to 12 months in advanced and even then will let you negotiate rent increases. I’ve been a StorageMart customer since Feb of 2021, and the rate has increased multiple times over the years. Most recently, I received a rate change notice dated 12/17/2025 stating my rent for a 5x5 unit will increase to $71.89 starting January 1, 2026. I’ve been paying $62.89/month consistently (Aug–Dec 2025), so moving from $62.89 to $71.89 is a $9.00 increase (~14.3%), which I’m not willing to accept — especially for a 5x5 unit. Quick summary of my recent payment history: Aug–Dec 2025: $62.89 - Notice to increase to $71.89 Jan–Jun 2025: $66.89 - $62.89 2024: $56.89 - $66.89 2023 - $44.89 - $56.89 2022 - $28.98 - $35.99 2021 - $21.99 (Customer since 2021; rate has steadily increased over time) To be clear, the staff here is very friendly and helpful, and Violet (the property manager) is genuinely nice. I also understand the on-site team likely has little to no control over corporate pricing. However, when I explained (politely) that I was leaving due to the cost, Violet said: “Well, you know, storage is only supposed to be temporary.” I didn’t love that. Plenty of people use storage long-term for seasonal items (Christmas decorations, summer/winter clothes, tires, etc.) to keep their homes from getting cluttered — it came off dismissive. Facility-wise, I only visited about 4 times a year, and it was usually pretty clean and appeared secure, even given the neighborhood. I found another storage facility offering a 5x5 for $35/month, and they allow you to prepay up to a year in advance so there aren’t surprise increases. That feels reasonable. If StorageMart could have kept my rate at $62.89 (or offered a comparable loyalty rate) and locked it for 6–12 months, I would’ve stayed and would have never shopped around. I admit I was a fool for paying those prices for so long, because it took me 20 mins to shop for better price and two SUV car trips (4 hours in total) to move out of StorageMart, travel to and move in the new storage place. So if you have a 5 x 5 up to a 5x10 unit, you should be shopping every year for better pricing or rate negotiation because those size units are the most easiest to vacate if they are not willing to negotiate rent increases. No need to pay outrageous prices.
