I’ve rented here for years. It’s gone through 3 owners. Recently things have gotten much worse. The customer service is terrible. A couple weeks ago someone broke into several units on my floor. This is after many issues with the doors sticking. I’ve had water damage twice, even after they fixed the roof. There have been flies then at times there will be tons of dead flies everywhere and there are rodents. In short, if you care about the things you have, don’t store here. They constantly raise the rent. They raised it in the fall and are raising it again today. You’re going to raise the rent right after a break in, nice. They also locked me out of my unit for a couples days because they mixed it up with someone else’s unit. Bill is always paid before it’s due. I travel a lot for work and have short windows where I need to grab things. I produced music festivals. I rent my apartment out so I’ll keep what I need in between in my unit to easily grab. Not so convenient when you can’t get into it because they lock you out. Then it’s impossible to reach anyone and the man that is there during the day (who is very nice) is unable to help with anything. You can only try calling someone else who can’t really help with anything and is very confused about how this could happen. I said I want to talk to a manger and I want them to do something for all the issues I’ve had since they took over. She said I’ll have them contact you, never did. Reached back out multiple times… nothing. So this is a well deserved poor review that has been a long time coming. And after the last break in— I’m out.

This place is as terrible as it can get. Main door is boarded up so you can only use side doors, elevators don’t work half the time, bathrooms are locked up sometimes, dark and smelly. Do yourself a favor, pay a little extra and go elsewhere. Update: The owners responded recently that this is not their location so I posted pictures of their signs which prove otherwise. Nothing “Safe” about this place.

This place has gone to crap! I’ve been here for 2 years and I’ve come into my unit to find my thing destroyed. Due to the lack of rodent control I have mouse droppings all over my belongings. I can’t even go into my unit because I’m allergic to mouse urine and mouse droppings. This is the most disgusting storage unit I have ever ever encountered the management of this building Has lacked extremely. There is no one to talk to automated systems. There’s no human in this building to help you.! My things need to be replaced! Calling and trying to get my stuff replaced by the insurance company that I pay for. Is unbelievable! I don’t want to pay them anymore of my money! This place is the worse! Look at all of the things that have been destroyed!!! Adding NEW INFO 1-8-26 before I could get my things out!! It flooded and my things got soaked! Having to provide details for everything that I had that I had to throw away is insane. Please go somewhere else this place is a nightmare and the manager is no help at all he asked me for my video to show the owner.. what a joke! Do they care about you NOOOOOO! I will write a review over and over again! Will they make this right Nooooo! Lawsuit will happen soon enough!! For all the lies. It doesn’t have cameras it’s not climate control! Staff is available when needed. The Manager is useless! I had the Best Experience at extra space storage on Dakin Street in CHICAGO That place is Amazing and always helpful!! This Safstorage on Lawndale is a nightmare stay away!!!!!!!

I have been with this storage company for about 8 months and 4 out of the 8 months the light have been out by my unit...I can't see anything when I go there. But they definitely want their rent on time. They also went up on the rent a whole $10 for 2026 and now I'm paying $70 a month for the smaller stores they have and I can't even get a light by my storage no way I would not recommend this company for storage.

Went in to inspect this location prior to renting. On the surface looks clean, in units there are piles of rodent droppings, dead roaches and roach eggs everywhere. They're in the elevator lights! Immediately cancelled my reservation, as I was on the phone with a rep at that time and informed him. Skin is crawling. DON'T go there sight unseen. Their mandatory insurance covers vermin damage, but rats are incontinent and roach eggs endure. Not worth the risk. Now I see why the prices seemed too good to be true.
