I rented a 10x20 unit on November 13th, 2025 —I have the signed contract to prove it—and when I arrived at my unit last week, there was a padlock on it that WAS NOT MINE.
At first, I thought it was a simple mistake. But no—this turned into the most unbelievable, disorganized, and downright unprofessional situation I’ve ever experienced with any company.
I called countless times, spoke with multiple employees, and every single one of them gave me the same useless line: “We will put a ticket in to the site manager.” Not one call back. Not one update. Nothing.
Then it gets worse. Much worse.
After pushing for an actual answer, one of the representatives finally tells me the truth:
My unit—the one I PAID for and have a contract for—is now being actively rented out to another tenant.
Let me repeat that: They rented MY unit to someone else while all of MY equipment—worth thousands of dollars—was inside.
How does this even happen? How is this remotely legal? How does a storage company not know who is in which unit? This is the kind of thing you see in nightmare stories online, not something you expect from a company that claims to be “secure.”
This mistake has directly affected my business, because the equipment stored in that unit is what I use daily to earn a living. I have lost time, money, and jobs because of their complete failure to manage their facility or communicate with their customers.
This is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had with any business. Zero accountability. Zero urgency. Zero communication. And clearly, zero clue what they’re doing.
If you value your belongings, your peace of mind, or your business—DO NOT rent from Mendon Secure Storage. They can’t even keep track of whose unit is whose, and they certainly don’t care about fixing their mistakes.
The facility is fine. It serves its purpose. The only issue I have is that I was paying one price, got an email saying it was taken over my new management and nothing would change then got an email saying my rate was going up. Not. Huge fan of the increase when I haven’t gotten anything new or better for what I pay. It’s not like their upkeep has changed. It’s just another company being greedy.
Convenient location, new and clean property. Very satisfied with that, however the customer service and no on-site management has been an incredibly frustrating experience.
Not being able to exit the property on 3 occasions with the remote customer service not being familiar with the property or how to assist.
A double charge to my account (I apparently ordered two units in error online without realizing...). Customer service said they would check if it's empty but cannot tell me when that will happen or when the charge would be refunded. I asked for a general timeline or idea and they told me they do not know.
I asked if anyone local to the property or familiar with the property was available, they said no.
Feeling stuck :(
I rented a 5x10 storage unit on August 22nd. The website stated that the first month was free. However, on September 1st, I was charged. In other words, I only had one free week. I called and they informed me that all payments are always made on the first day of the month. This wasn't what we agreed upon when I signed the contract, but okay, there are situations where we are vulnerable.
I'm moving, so I only wanted to use it for a short period and used it for 3 months. My plan was to leave in November. I was late with my payment, and then they changed my lock🔒. Ok, understandable. I made the payment on November 11th, and they never removed their lock. I sent emails, provided proof of payments, and called at least 3 times. They always said they would remove it, but it never happened. Even on the last call, the representative said that it would only be possible to remove it on Monday, December 1st, because of the Thanksgiving holiday. And she said I wouldn't be charged for December. Well, today is December 1st, and the email I received says I now have to pay for December to access my things. I paid on time for 20 days, and they did nothing; now I'm being forced to pay for another month. I feel extremely cheated and harmed from the beginning. I do not recommend them! Look for a place where there is someone in person who can talk to you respectfully.
Move in was beyond simple. The facility is well laid out, with plenty of room. The units are all clean and brand new. Plus, the price is the best around
