I wouldn't give one star if I could. This place is a complete scam! A close family friend asked for my help because they couldn't make sense of their charges for their storage. I took a look at the bill, it's cycle and calculated what the bill should have been. I realized that something wasn't right, so I called spare box storage to clarify and clear up any confusion. Upon calling, what seemed like a overseas call center I was helped by a middle eastern person who was hard to understand. They went over the bill with me and tried to say there was more old than what should have been. The following were the reasons for my call: 1.They charged more then the monthly rate that was quoted 2. Said the bill was due before it was supposed to be. 3. Threatened auction, and gave an inflated price 6xs the amount that it was supposed to be. When I brought this to their attention they said they would remove the (fees) *MIND YOU* there shouldn't have been any fees because technically my friend wasn't late on their bill and had been paying the correct quoted fee month after month. Spare box storage try to convince me that the fee was not correct and that they had been paying less every month and that is what resulted in the threat of auction. I supplied them with a screenshot of the rental agreement. the only thing they offered was removing fees. After removing the late fees it was still three times the amount that was quoted. They expressed that if it wasn't paid the storage unit was due to be auctioned the next morning. My friend ended up paying $700 to retrieve their belongings. They had the unit locked with their own padlock and it was opened by an employee so we could clean out the storage. This resulted in the unit being left unlocked when we left. Days later my friend received an email stating that there was trash left in the unit when there was not so I supplied spare box storage with photos to which they replied that there would be a cleaning fee, once again they were shown proof that it had been cleaned out. They still persist to send emails every month demanding cleaning fees. Save your time, your money and your belongings by staying clear of places like spare box storage! Not all rental companies are equal! My best advice is to rent from a family-owned business like PIP rental off of route 11 who are LOCALS WITH A BIG HEART & are beyond amazing and reputable!

Seriously dissapointing. They dont even do proper snow removal for the people who have units here. Absolutely disgusted what are these tenants paying for with the high prices? Cant ever get ahold of the property manager for this place.

Online receipt showed a “complimentary” combination lock would be on the unit when I arrived, so I didn’t purchase one in advance. They even gave a combo code and advised me to reset it. I got there and there’s a flimsy twist tag on the unit, no lock. I called Customer Service and was completely gaslit by the man on the phone who said Spare Box does not provide free locks and I must provide my own. I told him I had proof and he continued to repeat the same speech as if I was being untruthful. It was so frustrating to be spoken to that way that I cussed him out and hung up. I’m not sorry. Moving is stressful enough, this experience did not help. I didn’t get to move in many items, so I may just pay for the month and move to a different company.

It was easy to get and end service which was nice! My only complaint is that we shopped around for good rates which this location offered but they went up in price in less than 10 months. Overall… a good service!
