Facility Overview & What to Expect

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Unit is under my fiancés name, so I’ll spare you the “we don’t see a unit under your name” response. This was one of the most misleading and frustrating experiences I’ve had with any business. We rented a unit specifically because of a 50% off for 3 months promotion. The unit we were initially given had shelves screwed into the walls, making it unusable for us. Because of an issue on their end, we were told to switch units. We agreed—assuming, reasonably, that everything (including the promotion) would carry over. No one disclosed that the new unit would not qualify for the promotion. Not a single word. Then the first bill arrives—no discount applied. When we tried to resolve it, we were given a complete runaround. The property manager said it was corporate’s decision. Corporate said it was the property manager’s responsibility. So apparently no one is accountable for anything, and the customer just eats the cost. I think not. To make matters worse, we were also billed for insurance we explicitly declined in our signed agreement. That’s not a misunderstanding—that’s flat-out incorrect billing. Let’s be clear: we did not choose to switch units for preference. We were forced to switch because the original unit was not usable for our storage needs. Failing to disclose that the promotion would be lost in that process is deceptive, plain and simple. This entire situation shows a lack of transparency, poor internal communication, and careless billing practices. We are canceling immediately and removing our belongings. If you’re considering this facility, read everything carefully and verify every charge including their promotional charges or should I say lack thereof, because what you’re told upfront clearly cannot be trusted.
I am writing to express my disappointment and serious concerns regarding the security at this facility since the recent management change. During my recent visits, the main gate has repeatedly been left open. On one occasion, I observed two individuals wandering through the storage area, appearing to look at tenants’ vehicles and units. Later, I saw them leave the property carrying items. This was extremely concerning. I immediately notified the manager about the open gate and the security risk. While I was told the issue would be taken care of, on my very next visit the gate was once again left open. This ongoing issue makes it difficult for me to feel confident that proper security procedures are being followed. At this point, I am moving out and do not feel secure storing my belongings here
I reserved a storage online several weeks in advance, then went to move-in and found there’s no office at the location, and to go to the Hamburg office instead, where there is an office. So, we drove across town to get there before 5pm when it said the office would be open until. We arrived at 4:45pm to find there’s office empty, and another guest also curious why it wasn’t open. We couldn’t move in after a full day with movers. We were absolutely appalled. So much work for nothing. Luckily after calling again more times, a receptionist on the phone was able to get us another unit, paid again a second time, and could get a code for the gate to put our things inside. We then had no lock and no office to buy a lock. So we went to the hardware store and bought a lock, it didn’t fit. Had to go back again and buy a second lock that would fit. We spent 5-6 hours just getting the unit, lock, and took 20 minutes to put our things inside and lock it. We finally were able to finish by 9:30-10pm, when we planned to be done by 5pm-ish. It was the worst storage system I had experienced thus far in my life, but, we got a storage unit, so, at least they did provide the service we expected there.
Went into Storage rentals of America today hoping to get storage as im on a time crunch and Stacey was absolutely amazing. She made the process very easy, answered all my questions and provided great information. Very friendly and outgoing. Im glad i chose Storage rentals of america!
I have had the same storage unit since 2001. I have never seen the price increases like this ever. For a lousy 20×10 space you are raising my rent from $318 to over $400. It's crazy. I'm getting out as soon as I can
