I have very specific thoughts on Self Storage Plus that ANYONE wanting to rent a unit should read. I have had a storage unit (10x30 climate controlled) with them for two years. I asked for a fix rate, knowing it would be a long term rental. They told me they would not honor fixed pricing and that we were subject to some changes but it shouldn’t be too bad. I knew that was likely a load of crap, but was hopeful for no more than $5-15 increases biannually or annually and figured I’d stomach the increase and get through it. In October of 2023, our initial price was $202/month. As others have alluded to…their prices do not stay put for long. Oct 2023: $202 March 2024: received notice of rate increase from $202 to $263. I called the location, pitched a fit with the guys working, and they were able to get my price reduced back down to $217/month. March 2025: received notice of rate increase from $217 to $292. I called the (717) number which now goes to a call center (expect average customer service at best and don’t be surprised to get nowhere fast) and was told that they wouldn’t do anything for me. $292 price held. November 2025: received notice of rate increase from $292 to $392…going into effect on 11/11/25. Stopped by the physical location (because I won’t deal with the call center) and was told that she could do nothing for me. They’re going to get their money. So, to recap, my rate went from $202 to $392 in two years…with $175 of that in the last 8 months. Horrible call center for your customer service needs…and at the end of the day, they know you spent a ton of time moving and packing that unit, money to rent that moving truck, and everything else you did…and that kind of commitment makes you less likely to pack up and move your stuff out when the rates start going up. To be ABSOLUTELY FAIR: Tasha is nice; no issues with her. My climate controlled unit has stayed clean (no signs of pests) and dry (no sign of water - although they did have some roof issues early on; since fixed and did not get on my stuff). No issues on safety. I would give very high ratings on those areas…however the price increases, with no end in sight, heavily dictates this review. As a result, I’m getting out as fast as I can. IF you only plan to use them for a short period of time (
I just recently downsized from a 10x15 unit to 7x10, and Tosha made the process very easy. My only disappointment was that we began the process about 3pm, but had to be moved out of the 10x15 by 5pm to avoid additional charges since it was the end of the billing period. I would like to have been given til 10pm which is the end of the access period.
I needed to switch to a smaller unit. The woman at the desk was extremely helpful in every way. I picked a size that was too small. Not only did she not hassle me over it, she helped me fix the dude I needed and was very kind.
They are convenient and personable. My only complaint is my rent on an outside unit has gone up about $100 in 3 years. Seems excessive for no air conditioning or heat to my unit.
My husband and I were not sure what we needed and Tasha was very patient, knowledgeable and helpful in explaining everything to us. She also showed us our options and we were very happy to see the lighting inside and convenience to the outside door of the locker we chose.
