Approximately two months ago, my storage unit was broken into. I discussed the incident with the manager, who showed me video footage of individuals entering and exiting the facility at all hours of the night. She mentioned that a computer error was causing unrestricted access during these times. Additionally, she informed me that she had provided a colleague with certain information, which this person used to determine the optimal times to break into units. Subsequently, seven units were vandalized, and she apologized for this situation. However, I find it concerning that such a lapse in security occurred, raising questions about the oversight involved. The manager advised me to file a claim with the insurance provider, as I held a policy through the storage company. I informed her that I was planning to move out due to ongoing issues, including frequent elevator malfunctions and security concerns such as garage doors being left open, allowing unauthorized access. I was also uncomfortable with the possibility that individuals might be staying in some of the units overnight. After two months and my departure, the insurance company indicated that the documentation provided by the manager stated that I did not have active coverage at the time, which I believe was intentionally noted since I had mentioned my intention to leave the facility. I want to emphasize that I would not have chosen to remain there regardless of any promotional offers; the conditions of the property do not meet acceptable standards. And the manager admitted there are people still coming and going at all hours of the night. She’s not the smartest tool in the shed. The ladder in the photos is what the thief used to stand on and pulled the wall open. Manager said he has a unit a few units down and was living in it.
