I rented here for more than 10 years and stayed through several ownership changes, but the constant rent increases finally pushed me to leave. The breaking point was being told my latest increase was necessary to match “market rates,” while the exact same unit size was being advertised online for $100 less as a promotional rate. After looking around, I found a larger unit elsewhere for the same price I was paying here for a smaller space. Long-term tenants don’t seem to get much consideration, and every 8–10 months it became another frustrating phone call trying to understand why the rent kept going up. I would not recommend renting here unless you’re prepared for ongoing increases and inconsistent pricing. Update: I called to discuss how long-term customers could be given better consideration. I was told I was approved to stay at the current rate that I was paying. However, the rate I'm paying is the same amount as the promotional rate for their largest unit. I was told that Extra Space was not able to match their own promotional rates listed online. I stand by my rating and strongly discourage anyone from renting from Extra space past your original contract period. When your amount is locked in the rates are reasonable. When you aren't you will see these increases.
I haven't had to rent storage units for the most of my life, this is probably my second time and both times were through these guys. Whether you fill out the application and make your payment online or over the phone with an agent, the process is always very easy and smooth. They give you a call after the initial process is through to check and make sure everyrhing is ok, which I very much so appreciated because I had no concerns, but questions that were politely and professionaly answered by the agent. Plus, they have multiple locations around Cache Valley so if they dont have a unit available for you at one they'll probably have it at another. And they always have very good promotions and deals going on for first time, current renting, and returning customers as well. If you need a storage unit for any reason and for any period of time I definitely recommend these guys, theyll take care of you all the way through.
I ran into some struggles this past moth after having my baby. We needed to cut some of our costs down and Nicole helped me lower my payment and gave me the option of transferring to a smaller unit and one thay close so I didnt have to spend more money loading it and moving to another place. This has helped so much during this trying time.
Was great for a wile than a few months went by a noticed my payment for each month went up 45$ ( on both my units . I called a they said that happens and that you need to call in every 3 MONTHS to negotiate price and they can’t lock it in . No we’re on their sight does it say promotional pricing ! On their web sight it says “web pricing” than the original price crossed out that’s 40$ more . They do not let you know that it’s a limited time when you go in to sign the paper work a get your key . I feel it’s ridiculous that you have call every 2/3 months an “negotiate “
The local manager here is easy to do business with. The corporate operation, however, is simply greedy. They will lure you in with special rates and then aggressively raise those rates in a short period of time. I am moving out of my unit because my price began somewhere around $140 a month and their most recent renewal had me at somewhere close to $240 or $270 a month. I suppose they assumed that once you get your storage shed full, it's going to cost too much time and effort to move it. In my case, I will not support money hungry, greedy corporations. All I can do is share my review and advise you to be aware of my experience and you can determine whether or not you'll take their bait. According to their current website they're still offering a special introductory rate. Buyer beware. Follow up to the owner's invitation to call... I called when I received your notice that rates were going up. The office manager offered to reduce my bill by $20. I informed her that I found a different shed, in Tremonton, for $110 where Extra Space storage was charging $240-$270 for the same size. Twenty bucks off doesn't come close to your competition. The office manager said she would present my case to her superiors. No one has called me back. I assumed it was because there was no good news to share. I've moved 1/2 of my items to the Tremonton location. The time to talk and discuss was presented to you when I called 3 weeks ago. No one responded until I posted this negative review. There's nothing left to discuss. As I previously wrote, the local office manager is great, the corporate decision to aggressively raise rates, especially in this economy, was a poor decision made by an amateur.
