I recently rented a unit here, and while everything looked fairly clean from the outside, I quickly realized that wasn’t the case. After moving some of my things, I noticed my clothes were covered in dust and dirt — the place was much filthier than it appeared. When I went to the bathroom to wash my hands, it was absolutely disgusting. The sink was black and grimy, clearly from people washing off dirt after moving their belongings. The toiletand walls are covered urine and feces. The walls , doors and floors are disgusting!!! It’s obvious the bathroom is rarely ever cleaned This is really disappointing and unacceptable for a newer facility that should be maintained regularly. 🤢 . **update. after 4 months of renting , rent has gone up from $65 to $109 with no notice. Not to mention ,the filth is still around. There is no one you can talk to, If you ask the manager (white. male, greyy hair and glasses) he says ther is no corportate contact refuses to give you any info about who owns the property and if he said if had a contact they won't do anything to help. Not to mention he laughed at me and tried to over talk me when I made a call to inquire abou the rent hike. I was generous with my review the first time trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but everytime I go backhere the facilty is dirty and they only have two carts!! two carts for 3 floors of storage. Not to mention only one worker who happens to be the unprofessional manager and the BAIT AND SWITCH tatics. Just read all reviews across all platforms. They do it to everyone. SHAME on them . Unfortunately, this will not allow me to post a review with zero stars. Self Storage Plus routinely raises rent with no notification, sometimes two or three times in a year! Those raises have been as much as 28%! After a brief online search, it appears that this is the number complaint about this company. The facility on West Ox Rd, in Fairfax has bad parking. The bathroom is always nasty. About half the time the lights are not working in the elevators. They provide only four carts for the entire facility which means more often than not, there are none available. Finally, if all of that weren't enough, as a rule, the staff there is unfriendly and works with no sense of urgency whatsoever. When questioned about the rate increases or insurance costs, the best way to describe their response is ambivalent & rude. We will vacate our unit very soon. I'd recommend to anyone to not use Self Storage Plus! Ever!

Seriously—think twice before renting here. Ask yourself if you’re okay with your rent jumping every 2-3 months for no clear reason, because that’s exactly what happens. This place feels like a classic bait-and-switch. They lure you in with a low introductory rate, and then before you’ve even settled in, the price shoots up. I started renting a unit at the beginning of 2026 for $100 a month. Within just 90 days, I got a notice saying it was going up to $144. That’s a 44% increase in three months—completely unreasonable and misleading. On top of that, good luck trying to get anyone on the phone or getting straight answers from staff. Communication is basically nonexistent when you actually need help. Don’t be fooled by the random 4-star reviews—they don’t reflect the reality of how this place operates. If I could give them a rating of 0, I would.

The best customer service in all of the DMV!! Elya is AMAZING!! She went above and beyond to help me get everything situated for my rental and I cannot begin to speak so highly of her incredible friendliness and help! Whoever the manager is needs to take note and give her a raise. Will definitely recommend to my friends and fellow active duty!
