Facility Overview & What to Expect

I’d leave 0 stars but that isn’t an option. Let’s start at the beginning… I went online searching for a storage facility with safety and a decent price. KO storage had a great deal, $40/ month for 3 months, then $80 after that. Okay perfect. Rent my unit (which was way bigger than I needed but was the promotion), move everything I own for my entire family, and pack my little car full of what I could travel with for my family of 5 and drive to Texas. First billing statement comes out, it’s $108. So of course I need them to correct this. I call and speak with a representative that acknowledges the promotion and that it is for the unit size. She is unsure why it wasn’t applied but assured me she will escalate the issue and I’d hear back from a supervisor in 24-48 hrs. I waited a week. No one called but my family’s life is in this storage unit hundreds of miles away. So I call again. The representative agrees there an is an issue on their end and informs me not to make the payment until the change is made otherwise they’d have to refund me then retake my payment which can be more work than necessary. I did not make the payment and the representative instructed and was told to wait another 24-48 hrs for a supervisor to call. Still no call. I continue to call for the next two months. No supervisor ever called. I finally get someone to transfer me to a supervisor due to receiving an auction letter. This supervisor finally rectified the situation but only after my lock had already been cut off. I am in Texas and in shambles at this point! I have a family member go to my unit to check my belongings and re-lock my unit. There’s a red lock still on my unit and no one in the office. I tell her to leave it and at least it’s locked. Fast forward to August 2025, I am behind on my payment due to 4 birthdays out of the 5 family members in the month of July and falling on hard times like most of the country. I make a payment. I am caught up to July (still behind 1 month at this point). I try to make my payment in full in September and I can’t find my account. I call and am informed that my unit had been auctioned. NO AUCTION NOTICE, no communication, nothing. Everything is gone. I have called several times and keep getting different dates and methods of when the supposed auction letter was sent (mind you it must be in writing) and when my unit was actually auctioned off. They As of late, when I call and give the representative my information to locate my account they hang up on me. They have not offered any solutions and refuse to even acknowledge me or the fact that they have sold everything my family owned. Please be cautious when renting from them. I am aware this would/should not have happened if I was caught up in my payment, that doesn’t excuse them from illegally auctioning off my belongings. There is a reason there is a lease agreement in place, if my items were legally auctioned off I would know that I was the one at fault, that is not the case here. They are in breach of contract. The owner was very rude and disrespectful over the phone.
Alvin was great to work with on the phone today. It was fairly easy to get things completed and he was very knowledgeable. Thank you. I would rate him a 10 of 10.
after 4 times online move in totally resetting right at the end, I decided to just call. Andrew was awesome! wish I would have just called from the start.
Security wise, our stuff didn't go missing but the facility and business model is what earns them 2 stars. When we signed up we had to enter a gate code, there isn't a gate, for a long while it was just laying on the ground. The entrance is like mild off roading. If you neatly packed anything, it won't be once you drive through the gate. This leads to the real issue. We started at a great deal, I think it was $59 q month. Didn't say introductory or anything. 6 months later, they raised it to $90 a month. No property improvements. It was the same as it's always been. I asked how often to expect this hike in price and they said, it could happen every six months. So a little worried, we continued paying our bill. Sure enough, 6 months later, raising to $130 a month. Still no property improvements. This is when we decided it isn't worth it. We spent $120 on a moving truck and transferred to a unit with another company that is $80 a month with gated entry and smooth roadways. It is hard to find a non KO rental, they are everywhere but we will not do business again when the rent keeps getting raised every 6 months. The property is not worth $130 a month.
Sam was so helpful for getting documents signed and fast service to get my rental unit in one phone call . With poor internet service in the woods of WI , he talked me through it all . I was disconnected and He called me 3 times to help and waited patiently to get signed documents. In am time of emergency , needing a storage unit fast , he delivered it and helped take the stress away from a hard day . THANK YOU!
